What Application Development & Maintenance contributes to Cardinal Health Information Technology oversees the effective development, delivery, and operation of computing and information services. This function anticipates, plans, and delivers Information Technology solutions and strategies that enable operations and drive business value. Application Development & Maintenance performs configuration or coding to develop, enhance and sustain the organization's software systems in a cross-functional team environment through adherence to established design control processes and good engineering practices. This job family programs and configures end-user applications, systems, databases, and websites to achieve the organization's internal needs and externally-facing business needs. Application Development & Maintenance partners with business leaders, investigates user needs, and conducts regular assessments, maintenance, and enhancements of existing applications. The Analyst will contribute to supporting the Pharmaceutical and Specialty Distribution and Product and Solutions Marketing organizations along with the larger enterprise. We are seeking a highly motivated Junior Engineer to join our new Low-Code Center of Excellence. You will be a core, hands-on member of a team dedicated to democratizing development, empowering teams to innovate faster, and building mission-critical applications that directly impact our business. You will work within an agile methodology, contributing daily to sprint goals and learning best practices from experienced team members.
Responsibilities - Hands-on Development: Spend the majority of your time with hands to keys, actively configuring and coding within the OutSystems low-code platform to build and enhance applications.
- Agile Team Participation: Actively participate in all phases of the agile software development lifecycle, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Contribute to Platform Evolution: Work closely with senior team members to understand and contribute to the technical vision for our OutSystems platform and its evolution within a federated development model. Assist in applying SDLC best practices and governance standards.
- Develop and Innovate on the Core Platform: Under guidance, assist in building and enhancing the core capabilities of our low-code platform, focusing on creating robust, scalable integrations with our enterprise software solutions.
- Build Applications: Participate in the hands-on development of web and native mobile applications using OutSystems to solve key business challenges in areas like business process management and partner relationship management.
- Support Strategic Initiatives: Learn to translate product vision into tangible technical tasks. Your contributions will help refine initiatives into actionable technical stories, supporting our long-term strategy.
- Participate in the Federated CoE: Actively participate as a team member within our federated development community. Learn from code reviews, seek mentorship, and help uphold the "golden path" for development teams across the organization.
- Maintain an inquisitive mindset with a drive to learn and contribute to strategic roadmaps. Assist in refining initiatives into technical stories.
Qualifications - 0-2 years of experience, preferred
- A recent graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience preferred.
- Demonstrated foundational understanding of software development principles, data structures, and algorithms, gained through academic coursework or personal projects.
- Eagerness to learn and develop proficiency in low-code application development using OutSystems or a similar enterprise-grade platform. Any exposure to OutSystems is a significant plus.
- Familiarity with basic programming concepts in any language (e.g., Python, Java, C#, JavaScript) is a plus. We value your foundational coding knowledge and enthusiasm to learn.
- An understanding of, or willingness to learn about, the unique security, compliance, and data integrity requirements of the healthcare or pharmaceutical industry (e.g., HIPAA).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (GCP is a plus) and an eagerness to learn about modern integration patterns (REST, SOAP, Middleware, etc.).
- You are eager to learn, contribute to the team, and grow your skills in a fast-paced, agile environment.
