The State of Connecticut Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) is seeking to hire a Social Worker - Health Care Professional in the Sgt. John L. Levitow Healthcare Center.

The Sgt. John L. Levitow Healthcare Center at the Connecticut Veterans Affairs is a Skilled Nursing Facility licensed by the Connecticut Department of Public Health. The Levitow Healthcare Center takes pride in being certified by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), achieving their highest 5-star rating. This exceptional distinction indicates the Levitow Healthcare Center is considered much above average in quality by CMS. The Levitow Healthcare Center is also certified annually as a State Veterans Home by the Federal Veterans Administration.

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

- Location: 287 West Street in Rocky Hill, CT
- Work Environment: Office/On-site
Qualifications & Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE

Chronic and Convalescent Nursing Homes and Rest Homes with Nursing Supervision:
A Bachelor’s degree in social work from a college or university which was accredited by the Council on Social Work Education at the time of graduation and one (1) year of social work experience in a health care facility.

NOTE: Qualifying experience at this level will include:
- use of professional interviewing techniques;
- practiced skill facilitating and guiding group sessions to meet therapeutic objectives;
- assessment of client needs and functioning level achieved through continuing casework contacts and evaluation of social work interns.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

- Incumbents in this class may be required to be fluent in a foreign language for designated positions within the classification.
- Incumbents in this class may be required to travel.
